The Federal Minister Of Agriculture And Agri-Food And The Member For Vaudreuil-Soulanges Visit Ferme D’hiver!
On July 21, Ferme d’Hiver welcomed the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honorable Marie-Claude Bibeau, and the Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Peter Scheifke. Welcomed by Yves Daoust, founder and Head of operations at Ferme d’Hiver, Francis Bérubé, Director of produce merchandising at Sobey’s and André Saint-Denis, co-owner of Les Serres Vaudreuil, Ms. Bibeau and Mr. Scheifke got a first-hand look at the potential of Ferme d’Hiver’s technology, both on the economic and environmental fronts.
After visiting the site, where construction is ongoing, constructive exchanges enabled the minister and member of parliament to get a good understanding of Ferme d’Hiver’s mission: to set up an indoor production network that is eco-responsible and integrated with supply chains. Having secured a forward contract with Sobey’s, Ferme d’Hiver is providing its produce grower partners with an opportunity to be able to count on better revenue planning, thanks in particular to constant and predictable crops twelve months a year.
Food self-sufficiency, the energy transition, financing of agricultural projects and the importance of creating a synergy between all actors in the supply chain were at the heart of the discussions.
