Ferme d’Hiver Mandates Investissement Québec – Criq to Develop an Automated Mobile Platform Concept for its Interior Farms

Over the next few weeks, Ferme d’Hiver will start production of its Fraise d’hiver at its industrial unit, part of the family business at Les Serres Vaudreuil. As Ferme d’Hiver is committed to the optimization of operational processes and understands labour availability issues faced by its produce grower partners, it has mandated Investissement Québec – CRIQ to develop an automated mobile platform concept for its interior vertical farms. This collaboration will contribute to limit non-essential trips, maximize production chain efficiency and automate certain tasks related to picking.

This step will be carried out in addition to the efforts Ferme d’Hiver has undertaken regarding operational efficiency. For several weeks already, a project team comprised of engineers, logistics specialists and agronomists has been developing an efficient production process that is integrated into the agricultural activities of produce growers.

“Ferme d’Hiver puts technology to work for farmers, and this collaboration proves it once again. Optimal management of operations is a key element of our partnership with agricultural producers. Automating certain operations will benefit all parties and we are delighted to enjoy the expertise of Investissement Québec – CRIQ as part of this mandate.” – Yves Daoust, Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Ferme d’Hiver.

“Investissement Québec – CRIQ is proud to support businesses such as Ferme d’hiver in the search for innovative technological solutions to increase productivity and to collaborate with the entire agri-food sector to contribute to Quebec’s food self-sufficiency.” – Lyne Dubois, Vice-President, Investissement Québec – CRIQ
